Our goal this year is to raise $460,000 for the Combined Federal Campaign. C’mon, show some love! You know you want to.
We at the Smithsonian care deeply about our communities, the nation, and the world. Each year we have the opportunity to show how much we care by contributing in meaningful ways to causes that matter to each of us through the Combined Federal Campaign. The 2017 campaign has started and runs through Jan. 12, 2018. The theme of this year’s campaign is “Show Some Love.”
One way to see the power of the CFC in action is through relief efforts for the recent hurricanes in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico. These storms have been devastating to millions of people in our country, and many at the Smithsonian have asked how they can help. There are many charities participating in the CFC that are aiding in hurricane relief, making the campaign a wonderful opportunity to #showsomelove to our fellow citizens who have been severely affected by these disasters.
You can also #showsomelove to our own charities: Smithsonian, the Smithsonian Early Enrichment Center, and the Friends of the National Zoo.
Last year, Smithsonian staff raised more than $490,000 against a goal of $460,000 for worthy causes through the CFC. Our goal again in 2017 is to raise $460,000.
This year, the CFC program has expanded to allow staff to commit volunteer hours for selected charities in addition to monetary contributions. The program has also been streamlined to reduce administrative costs and make sure more money goes directly to the charity of your choice. Federal retirees are also allowed to contribute through the program this year. Unit coordinators and keyworkers about these changes and how you can contribute.
