Today in Smithsonian History: September 25, 1946
The National Collection of Fine Arts (now the Smithsonian American Art Museum) exhibition alcove at the Natural History Building. The portrait at right is of naturalist and explorer William Healey Dall by Wilford Seymour Carow, lent by the Cosmos Club.
September 25, 1946 The Smithsonian Centennial Exhibit closes at the U.S. National Museum. The exhibit, which opened August 10, 1946, is located in the lower level of the north hall of the museum and includes about 50 objects honoring those who contributed to the National Collections.
