Pierre Comizzoli of the National Zoo and Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute is joining the Office of the Provost on a part-time detail as Senior Program Officer for Science. Comizzoli is well acquainted with the Smithsonian science portfolio; he leads the pan-Institutional cryo-initiative and previously served as the Acting Director of the Grand Challenges Consortia for Science. He will work closely with Scott Miller, who, in addition to his continuing duties as Deputy Under Secretary for Collections and Interdisciplinary Support, is responsible for science in the Office of the Provost.
Comizzoli rounds out the program team in the Office of the Provost—joining Michelle Delaney (Senior Program Officer for History and Culture), Joanne Flores (Senior Program Officer for Art), and Amy Marino (Senior Program Officer for Collections and Interdisciplinary Support.)
More information on the Office of the Provost can be found beginning August 1 on Prism at http://prism2.si.edu/Provost/pages/home.aspx.
