The “Spirit of Tuskegee” lives on at the Smithsonian

In the summer of 2011, a vintage Stearman biplane made a cross-country journey to its new home in the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture. The “Spirit of Tuskegee” will be on display when the museum opens its doors on the National Mall in 2015. The plane is one of only a few remaining aircraft with direct ties to the Tuskegee Airmen.
