Happy Halloween

An adorable Small Madagascar Hedgehog Tenrec got his own trick-or-treat bucket for Halloween. The National Zoo celebrated Halloween at its Small Mammal House, Asia Trail, Lemur Island, Reptile Discovery Center, Invertebrate Exhibit and Great Ape House.  The animals enjoyed pumpkins, fruit-ice and other nutritious Halloween-themed treats prepared by staff in the Zoo’s commissary.

The Arts and Industries Building receives an Historic Preservation Award from the Washington Metropolitan Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. The ceremony was held in the National Gallery of Art Cafe. A plaque, which was affixed to the building exterior, and four certificates of achievement of excellence in historic preservation, are awarded.
