Behind the scenes: West Nile virus and the backyard birdbath

Not all scientific research is conducted in laboratories or at remote field locations. In this video, Peter Marra of the National Zoo’s Migratory Bird Center explains how monitoring West Nile virus infection in birds captured on the National Mall has important implications for human health.
